How To: Celebrate National Pumpkin Day
National Pumpkin Day arrives every year on October 26. To help celebrate one of the most versatile fruits (yup, pumpkins are part of the fruit family), we’ve compiled a list of five fun ways you can get involved this year (no pumpkin costume required!).
1. recipe round-up
Get creative with your pumpkin recipes. Love pumpkin soup? Try COBS’ take on a winter warmer here. Want to step it up a notch? We have created the ultimate, pumpkin-filled dessert. This is our recipe for a super simple, No-Bake Pumpkin Cheesecake that only takes 15 minutes of prep work!
2. pumpkin carving
We had to include an obvious option. Getting family and friends around and hosting a pumpkin carving night is a super fun way to celebrate pumpkin season. For those with a more competitive streak why not host a carving competition? Winner gets a 6-pack of COBS Bread Pumpkin Scones or Pumpkin Tarts!
3. pumpkin facts
Impress your friends and family with your pumpkin facts this year. Did you know?…
- More than 2 billion pounds of pumpkin is produced in Canada and the United States each year.
- The largest pumpkin pie ever baked was in 2005 and weighed 2,020 pounds.
- The pumpkin flowers, seeds and flesh are all edible and are rich in potassium and vitamin A.
4. Pumpkin patch
Visiting a pumpkin patch is a great day out that the whole family can enjoy. Supporting local farms is also a great way to give back at this time of year. Pro tip: Make sure to bring your own bag to carry your prized souvenir home.
5. pumpkin spice…
…and everything nice. Be part of the bandwagon this year and go get yourself a pumpkin spice latte. Yes, they’re basic but boy are they wonderful. Extra points for making your own, drink up!
We’re celebrating the return of Pumpkin Scones and Pumpkin Tarts this year at COBS Bread bakeries nationwide.
